Design Question:

How might we alleviate the effects of clinician burnout and enhance the clinician/patient relationship?

Important Considerations and Goals of Our Project:

Currently, the bulk of research conducted in regards to clinician burnout focuses on primary care doctors. However, burnout affects many individuals working in healthcare, and we wanted to also recognize/address the challenges faced by other types of clinicians (e.g. nurses, physician assistants, etc.). Through integration with EHR systems and Natural Language Processing, HIRO is an application that aims to:
1. Emphasize the more positive aspects of a clinician’s work week in an engaging and novel manner
2. Quantify clinician burnout and other aspects of healthcare encounters
3. Help clinicians better reflect/visualize aspects of their week that may be lost in the day-to-day work.
